Did you say Wine
Yaaaas please!
We are talking about Napa Valley, one of my absolute favorite girls trip spots. I have been there 4 times and would go back; so this is definitely a big time recommendation!
Last fall we did a fabulous trip. We stayed at The Lodge at Sonoma, this is a Marriott property now known as BonVoy. I was able to snag 4 nights using points I earned using the Marriott card. This made great sense as hotels are spendy in the valley and since it’s Cali we are talking high taxes too, this is when I use those coveted points.
Getting there was quick and easy from Minneapolis since Sun Country does a routine flight in the fall from MSP to Santa Rosa avoiding the San Fran traffic. We flew in Thursday and back home on Sunday for under $300 per person.
Here was our Itinerary:
3:00 off the plan and grabbed our car rental. Off to our first winery on the way to our hotel. This winery was called Ledson and it was fabulous.
By 6 we were all checked in and off to dinner at Brix restaurant in Yountville. You can get there via Uber no problem. This is a fabulous venue with views on views and a farm to table garden to walk through. The food was amazing too. I would definitely recommend this one.
Day 2
After coffee we had arranged for a private driver to take us on a day of wine tasting. This is a great way to get to a good mix of vineyards. Personally I think one day of a driver is plenty and it will cost you, but I think it’s worth it as you hear a lot of the history of the valley and they have connections to the vineyards they take you to. Our favorite vineyard was Pride Mountain. Good wine and a great mission to help fight cancer. It’s always good to know your sipping for a cause.
We ended the day with a stop at Domain Carneros for some Champagne sipping.
Day 3 was a venture out to a few country side wineries like Scribe and then to Sonoma Square to shop and eat. We finished with dinner at the Girl and the Fig.
Day 4 We chilled in the hotel and had a brief brunch before packing up to leave. We headed out a few hours early to check out the Glenn Ellen area and just savor the views of the valley before heading back to Minnesota.
This was a great Mother/Daughter trip, don’t be surprised if we hit repeat on a trip like this again.
