A 7 day Itinerary for Ireland based in Dublin

Ireland in 7 Days: Castles, Coastlines & Craic 🇮🇪

If Ireland has been sitting on your bucket list waiting for the right time, let me tell you, it deserves a spot near the top.

After spending seven incredible days exploring Dublin and beyond, I came home with a camera full of photos, a heart full of memories, and a newfound appreciation for just how beautiful this country truly is.

From dramatic cliffs and medieval castles to lively pubs and charming coastal villages, Ireland delivered everything I imagined and a few surprises I didn’t.

Day 1: Welcome to Dublin

Our adventure began with a smooth Delta flight from Minneapolis to Dublin. After arriving, we met our private driver, checked into our hotel, grabbed a much-needed coffee, and headed out to explore.

A stroll through St. Stephen’s Green, a city tour, and my first Guinness helped kick off the trip. As someone who is 90% Irish, I feel obligated to admit that I still don’t love Guinness, but when in Ireland, you have to give it a try.

Day 2: Dublin Highlights

Dublin quickly became one of my favorite European cities. We explored the Guinness Storehouse, wandered Grafton Street, enjoyed some shopping, and experienced the energy of Temple Bar.

The evening was spent enjoying traditional Irish music and dancing, a perfect introduction to Irish culture.

Day 3: Wicklow, Glendalough & Kilkenny

This was the day Ireland looked exactly like the postcards.

Rolling green hills, ancient monastic sites, sheep-covered countryside, and charming villages filled the day. Glendalough was particularly special, combining beautiful scenery with fascinating history.

Kilkenny’s medieval charm was the perfect ending before heading back to Dublin.

Day 4: Cliffs of Moher & Galway

If you’re planning a trip to Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher should absolutely be on your itinerary.

Standing along the edge of these dramatic cliffs while waves crash below is one of those travel moments that photos simply can’t capture.

We continued along the Wild Atlantic Way, explored The Burren, stopped in Galway, and sampled a few Irish treats including Cadbury chocolate and Tayto crisps.

Day 5: Northern Ireland Adventure

Crossing into Northern Ireland brought us to Belfast, the spectacular Dunluce Castle, and the world-famous Giant’s Causeway.

The scenery along the northern coast was breathtaking. Green countryside stretched for miles and the coastline seemed to get more dramatic around every corner.

Fans of Game of Thrones will also recognize several filming locations throughout this region.

Day 6: Howth Coastal Village

One of the hidden gems of our trip was Howth.

Located just outside Dublin, this charming fishing village offered beautiful coastal walks, fresh seafood, and incredible views.

Ireland’s weather certainly kept us guessing throughout the day, but the changing skies only added to the beauty of the coastline.

We even spotted a seal relaxing near the harbor.

Day 7: Music, Memories & Farewell

Our final day focused on Dublin’s rich music history.

The Irish Rock & Roll Tour introduced us to the stories behind U2, Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, The Cranberries, and many other artists who helped shape Ireland’s music scene.

A final stroll through Temple Bar, one last look around Dublin, and suddenly it was time to pack for home.

Would I Go Back?

Without hesitation.

Ireland exceeded every expectation. The scenery was stunning, the people were welcoming, the history was fascinating, and every day offered something new to discover.
